Nokia c2-03

There is a new Series 40-powered feature phone from Nokia known as the Nokia C2-03, where it will merge Dual-SIM functionality with Touch and Type technology. Carrying a couple of SIM cards is getting more and more common these days, but what you need to do is make sure your phone is able to handle more than one SIM card slot so that both numbers can be reached at any one time, and the Nokia C2-03 intends to fulfil that role – with aplomb, I might add.

What makes the Nokia C2-03 so special? Well, for starters this is Nokia’s third Touch and Type phone and will be the first of its kind that features Dual-SIM. Normally, Dual-SIM phones will need to be switched off while getting the battery removed, in order for the SIM card to be inserted. This time around, the Nokia C2-03 will feature Easy Swap that lets you open the slot on the side of the phone, followed by inserting the new SIM card without having to reboot it at all.

E FUN Next5 Android-powered tablet

The iPad has certainly done its bit to bring tablet popularity to new heights – just take a look at the explosive growth of this once niche market and tell us otherwise. The Next5 is the latest device and will be part of E FUN’s Nextbook line, sporting a 7” TFT touch-screen color display, integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, multimedia functionality, an eBook Store app, as well as the SlideME application manager that comes as a pre-loaded software. As mentioned earlier, this is the first Android tablet that will come with an integrated digital pen.

Fling adds a new dimension to gaming on the iPad

One thing that the iPad is used for by many people apart from being a relatively hassle-free device used for surfing the Internet would be casual gaming. Many hit titles on the iPhone has already been ported over to Apple’s best selling tablet series, where the mechanics of the game remain the same – you will make use of your fingers to manipulate icons or characters on the screen to complete the game’s objective.

What if there was a different – and more efficient manner of playing a game? That is what Ten One Design thinks, hence coming up with the revolutionary tactile game controller known as Fling for the iPad. Now, if it doesn’t work for you because you’re too used to your fingers, don’t fling (pun not intended) your iPad against the wall out of frustration. Ten One Design has the pedigree to back up their cause – they are, after all, the creator of the first capacitive touch-screen stylus for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

T-Mobile has at long last, announced their latest myTouch 4G Slide smartphone which will be part of T-Mobile’s exclusive line of myTouch devices. The myTouch 4G Slide is said to deliver the most advanced camera of any smartphone with zero shutter lag – now this is something that is surprising since Android-powered smartphones tend to fall behind the iPhone when it comes to camera technology.

Having said that, you can’t just waltz into any T-Mobile store at the moment to bring home a myTouch 4G Slide since it is expected to be available only in July – now, now, that isn’t too far away, is it? It is already the end of June, and you can sniff July out around the corner. The naming convention of the myTouch 4G Slide also gives the game away when it comes to 4G connectivity support, so you know what you’re getting with this smartphone right from the get go.

PowerSkin has goods for the HTC Sensation and HTC ThunderBolt

PowerSkin – the name that is a godsend for those who make heavy use of their iPhones, has now opened the door for owners of the HTC Sensation and HTC ThunderBolt to enjoy an additional boost of power as well as protection from the daily rigors of portable use. The HTC ThunderBolt is one of the first few 4G/LTE handsets out there, and one of its major drawbacks would be the huge power drain on its battery when on 4G networks. Having additional juice on hand is always useful, as you never know when you might need to make that emergency call without a power outlet nearby.

You basically get to enjoy twice the power thanks to the built-in batteries in the respective case, sporting an extra smooth finish on the outside which is made of shock-absorbing silicone, delivering maximum protection in the process.

Vizio Tablet ready to rock and roll

Vizio, the company that brought you extremely affordable LCD TVs that do not skimp on quality and performance has now announced that they will be dipping their toes into the competitive tablet market in the form of the aptly named Vizio Tablet, which incidentally will also be the first in the Vizio Internet Apps Plus (“V.I.A. Plus”) ecosystem. This next generation of Vizio Internet Apps will usher about a unified, sophisticated and intuitive user experience over a wide range of consumer electronics devices, where among them include Vizio HDTVs, Blu-ray players, tablets, and smartphones amongst others.

Let us look at the Vizio VTAB1008 tablet in greater detail – it will sport an 8″ display which is by far and large different from most of the other tablets on the market, as those tend to be in the 7″ range or 10″ size, depending on the manufacturer. 8″ is certainly a bold move to take since hardly any other manufacturers go in that direction – at least you get to stand out from the rest of the crowd with this.

Archos tablets offer the best of both worlds

French-based Archos has just announced their latest entries in the ever growing tablet market, where they intend to merge both speed and storage in the latest range of its tablets, carrying along with them an OMAP 4 processor with an ARM Cortex dual-core 1.5GHz A9 processor, in addition to Seagate’s 250GB hard drive to get you started right out of the box. There will be several screen sizes to choose from, where among them would be the 8” Archos 80 G9 and 10” Archos 101 G9.

Both models will run on the latest Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system so that you can enjoy the latest version the moment you unwrap the packaging with your excited, bare hands. This sure as heck beats waiting for a new update to arrive Over The Air (OTA), as that might just take months after a device’s release to see that happen. Don’t believe us? Ask those who use Android-powered Sony Ericsson handsets…

HP announces TouchPad 4G on AT&T

The tablet industry is definitely heating up, as it no longer remains the domain of the Apple iPad (and its successor, of course) any more. With Google’s Android operating system (and their efforts in creating a tablet-centric version with Android 3.x Honeycomb) being widely adopted by tablet manufacturers, those results are creeping closer and closer towards the iPad standard in some aspect, while depending on the kind of hardware thrown in, beats out on the iPad to boot.

HP enters the tablet fray not fueled by Android, but rather, they very own operating system – webOS. Not only that, HP intends to make a splash with their TouchPad 4G by debuting it on AT&T, making sure it is capable of remaining connected at all times thanks to a built-in wireless mobile broadband. As for the rest of the specifications, you would do well to read on.

Apple App Store shifts over 15 billion apps

15 billion and counting – that is the juggernaut that Apple has built over the years with their App Store, having shifted that amount of apps by more than 200 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users around the world. We do wonder at the spectacle of it all, and just how many more apps could have been downloaded the official way instead of devious minds taking the jailbreak route? That cannot be answered at the moment, but it is certainly worth pondering over.

The Apple App Store is said to offer over 425,000 apps, with developers being credited for churning out more than 100,000 native iPad apps as well. It has taken a mere 3 years for the App Store to grow to its current size, and definitely the kind of hardware which Apple rolled out over the years did play a role in propagating the purchase of apps. After all, having great software but poor hardware is never a winning combination, and vice versa. The others (Android Market and Windows Marketplace) are clearly playing catch up, with Android Market having the remote chance of eventually catching up with the App Store.

Apple MacBook Air gets update

What some deem to be the world’s thinnest notebook (some Apple haters still claim that this is a netbook, although I am inclined to disagree with that assessment even though I am not an Apple fanboy) has just gotten better – and just in case you were wondering how that is possible, why don’t you keep on reading? I’m sure you might even end up looking forward to get hold of the new MacBook Air eventually.

Not only does the updated MacBook Air come with next generation processors, it will also be able to handle high-speed data transmissions thanks to the inclusion of the new Thunderbolt I/O technology, in addition to a backlit keyboard to let you work late into the night without any light in the background, and Mac OS X Lion doing the brunt of the work to keep everything together – software-wise, of course.
